Known for his acoustic folk/country sound established on his debut release “Love. Murder.Songs,” singer/songwriter Garrett Kato has released the first single “UFOS” off his forthcoming release “That Low And Lonesome Sound.” Taking a drastic turn from his previous release, “UFOS” opens with dramatically haunting vocals accompanied by pulsating guitar and keys. This leads into the break of the first chorus which is quite shockingly equipped with a strong bass beat, a ridiculously smooth electronic sounding drum beat, and Kato’s pure and all-encompassing vocals. While showing glimpses of his sincerity and folk roots with small pleasant guitar riffs mixed throughout, this tracks shows a much darker and more serious side of Kato. While some musicians are unable to convincingly step out of their comfort zone into a new type of sound, Kato clearly demonstrates here that he is capable of much more than simply folk/country acoustic songs. This track not only leaves me beyond excited for the album release (slated for September) but quite possibly will make it on my list for tops tracks of 2015.
